Connection with Spring Legion to introduce future friends

Ty Kinard, 24, will have more hunting memories to file in his Mississippi folder in a few weeks. He won the turkey hunt being guided by the Spring Legion guys in the Magnolia State April 2 through April 4.

“I’ve been a hunter for as far back as I can remember,” Kinard, of Collierville, Tenn., said. “My grandad used to take us to Willow Point near Clarksdale, Miss., and we hunted in the Holly Springs National Forest as well. I was 7 years old when I started getting into it, so really I’ve been turkey hunting my whole life.”

He won the raffle of the hunt in south Mississippi that will be guided by Hunter and Chase Farrior and Austin Sills, of the Spring Legion brand.

“I’m really looking forward to learning from them,” Kinard said. “They’re really huge into it and I want to watch what they do and how they act. I want to see how they react to situations and learn all I can while I’m with them. I’m just ecstatic about having won.”

He chose to buy tickets on the Spring Legion raffle thanks to his familiarity with Hunter Farrior gained through following his social media presence.

“The interaction with the turkeys is what I love most about turkey hunting,” Kinard said. “When you call and they gobble back, or when you call back at a hen and she brings the whole flock over to you, it doesn’t get any more rewarding than that. Killing a turkey is part of it, but in a lot of ways it’s anti-climactic. It’s a thrill to see and hear the birds react to what you’re doing, and trying to figure out what to do next.”
